The department of Obstetrics &
Gynecology PGMI is a robust department comprising of two
units, having 84 beds and headed by two professors and
have enthusiastic teams consisting of associate
professors, assistant professors senior registrars,
trainees and house surgeons. It is recognized by the
College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan for full four
years training of FCPS – II and also provides training for
DGO and MS programs.
The department provides the
outpatient services, indoor facility, labour room services
and facility of emergency and elective surgical
procedures. The yearly OPD attendance of the patients is
about 30,000 per annum and number of admissions in labour
room and wards is 12,000. Yearly number of births is 9000.
Total number of surgical procedures (Emergency and
elective) is 3200. Treatment of infertility is provided to
the patients. Management of gynaecological malignancies is
available with referrals where and when needed.
Department also provides
admission and monitoring facilities to high risk pregnant
patients.
Department offers a structured
training program according to curriculum laid down by CPSP
& UHS. Teaching and training includes bedside teaching,
lectures and monthly statistical and neonatal meetings. A
monthly evaluation system is in place, which comprises of
SEQs, MCQa and TOACS. Feedback is given to each trainee at
regular intervals.
Labour room and emergency
facilities are available round the clock. The outpatient
segment serves the patients emergency six days a week.
Five elective lists are conducted in a week. Donations and
zakar is utilized to help deserving patients and also to
purchase equipment such as CTG, USG machines etc.
