The
Department of Anaesthesia at Lahore General Hospital
Lahore (LGH) is an independent service which aims to
provide a high standard of anaesthesia care. The
Department comprises of full-time faculty members,
consultants, trainees, medical officers and house
officers. It provides teaching and training programmes for
FCPS, MS,MCPS and DA. The department offers a structured
programme according to curriculum laid down by CPSP & UHS
which is covered through bedside teaching and lectures
twice a week.
It
provides clinical services to the specialties of general
surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, urology,
neurosurgery, ENT, ophthalmology, plastic surgery,
orthopaedic surgery and emergency cover on a 24-hour
basis.
The
department looks after general intensive care unit and
neuro ICU. In addition it maintains a pain management
centre which provides pain relief services to patients of
chronic and cancer pain. The department also provides
sedation and monitoring cover to gastroenterology and
radiology departments. Various PGRs are doing
their research work on different topics to fulfill their
fellowship / master training.
Future
plans include state of the art facilities in ICU,
operation theatres and pain management centre along with
provision of pain relief services round the clock in
obstetrics and emergency departments.
