Daily an average of 100 user visits the
library.
The following activities are being performed in library:-
Collection development: Procurement of latest information
materials like books and journals for Postgraduate and
undergraduate students according to their information needs.
Reference services: Daily provision of reference service to
the students and faculty members such as:
• Searching techniques
• Reference Manager, SPSS, Referencing Styles
• Print and online resources related to their
subject.
• Computer and Internet usage.
• Searching of HEC Databases.
Circulation: Daily issue and return of the library books to
the students and teaching staff.
Article request/Document Delivery Services: Providing
Access to full text articles and books which are not available in
PGMI library. Getting Articles and books from other libraries.
Guiding user to access the information resources and contacting
other institutions and libraries via e-mail and phone.
Cataloguing and Classification: Daily cataloguing and
classification of library books. All the material purchased from
2008 to date has classified and catalogued. The cataloguing of
books purchased before 2008 is in daily working process.
Online resources: Internet facility is being provided to
the users in PGMI library with the access to HEC Digital library.
Wi-Fi facility is also available in library. The new digital
library section is functional to provide online resources’ access
to students.
Serial Management: Daily management of serials purchased,
complementary and Pakistan postgraduate Medical Journal (PPMJ).
Binding of volumes, Preparation of complete list of all serials in
PGMI library.
Photocopy: Photocopying facility is available for the
users.
Print outs: Print outs, scanner facility available for
students and faculty members.
Training sessions: Training sessions arranged in library on
computer applications, searching techniques, SPSS, Reference
manager etc.
Digital library Section: Management of digital library
section, management of issues regarding resources available on HEC
digital library with correspondence to UHS and HEC
representatives. Issues regarding billing of Internet connection
etc.
